Rainfall/ Climate:
The temperatures in the Gobi Desert Vary. During the summers it can be up to 40 degrees celsius. While winters can be as cold as -40 degrees. Yearly the gobi desert receives only 7.6 inches of rainfall. During the winters are dangerous with high winds and low temperatures that can create icy sandstorms or sometimes snowstorms.
Gobi desert is very dry due to the Himalayas which prevent rainfall from coming towards the region. The Gobi desert mostly collects its moisture/ water from the winters.
Soil type:
Consists only of 3 percent of sand and sand dunes. Most of the soil is graying brown rich in carbon and coarse gravel. There are over 33 types of soil which is differentiated by color and composition.
Rivers:
Surface rivers barely have any flow, during the summer is when there is a slight amount of water. Most of the water quickly dries up sinking into loose soil.

Pollution:
Many animals were born deformed, caused from the uranium radiation from mining activities. How this happened was because the uranium exploration work had spilled onto the animals habitats. Although, apparently that wasn’t the main cause that was killing these animals. The selenium and copper in the soil is killing these animals.
The Gobi Desert does not contain much water itself. The mine works situated into the ecosystem collect tons of water. Yearly, the Gobi desert expands about 1,400 square miles, taking away grasslands thus destroying habits of the farmers and species.
